Scottish Cross Country Series at Badaguish

Monday, September 25, 2006

Yesterday was the final race in a series of 7 and what a great way to end it. Badaguish was the chosen trail up the road from Glenmore Lodge and it consisted of 10km laps.

I think it is a fantastic event for the whole family and for the novice and elite. It is prefessionally run, fun atmosphere and incredibly supportive to all.

OPEN CANOE SYMPOSIUM AT GELNMORE LDOGE

Another great symposium. Sunshine all weekend, following a downpour of rain on the Thursday to bring the rivers up to a nice level.

Walking out of the building was fantastic looking over a sea of open canoes. There was over 110 canoeists around the lodge all really keen to get out and enjoy the great weather and the water. We had demonstration boats from We-no-nah and Nova Craft, Grey Owl paddles had demo paddles and Kari Tek were here letting us see their roof rack systems. Stirling Canoes and Tiso came up to be our shops and a roaring trade was noticed.

Venues used included sections on the upper and middle Findhorn, lots of groups went to the Spey, the river Tay and others did some half-day sessions on Loch Morlich. Evening entertainment included a talk on the River Langan in Sweden on friday night and a photo journey of the Mountain River in Canada’s North West Territories on Saturday night and of course great music and dancing from the Graham and his band.

All in all fantastic weekend.
