ALPINE BIKES & GLENMORE LODGE
Tuesday, July 25, 2006

We are proud, happy elated and a tad smug that ALPINE BIKES have joined our team to sponsor the mountain biking department. They are quite simply crazy about biking! This means that between us we will be able to offer you more events, more product showcasing and more courses. Where better to do all this than in the world’s number one destination for mountain biking, yes Scotland! Smug is good.
Alpine Bikes is now in its 16th year..
Aberdeen 1989
Glasgow (Gt Western Rd) 1995
Edinburgh 1997
Glasgow - Outdoor Experience 2000
Stirling 2002
Alpine, like the Lodge, retains its fundamental beliefs in courteous service, no compromise on quality and value for money. No wonder we are already making a good team.
Our first major event together will be the Easter weekend of 2007 (April 14). We are hosting a Mountain Bike Symposium with competitions for young and old, display teams and workshops. Keep an eye out on the web for more details.
WELCOME TO ALPINE BIKES!

CHARLIE IS 65!
Wednesday, July 05, 2006
CHARLIE WALPOLE CAN'T QUIT AT 65Charlie Walpole is one of those great characters of the Cairngorms. He has just turned 65 years of age and feels too young to retire. In 1980 he was head hunted and moved to Glenmore Lodge where he has worked as Head Grounds Man for the last 26 years. He has had a dedicated assistant in his dog Peggy for the last 14 years. Most people would have had enough of hard labour by then, but not Charlie. He had a 65th and a semi-retirement party where he celebrated the fact that he has been given the biggest present of all...a chance to continue working 2 days a week doing what he loves. The Lodge is also very happy as nobody knows the grounds as well as Charlie. Tim Walker (Principal of Glenmore Lodge) said Charlie's hard work here over 26 years is obvious to anybody who visits the grounds. We are very fortunate to have had the benefit of his skills and delighted he is able to stay. He is very much part of the Lodge family'.
We would like to wish Charlie a happy 65th and hope he enjoys a well deserved semi-retirement. He will hopefully have more time for his hobbies which involve tending to his tractors and sheep He will also be able to enjoy the benefits of all his work renovating his house from a burnt out shell twenty years ago to the lovely home it is today in Avielochan with his partner Ann Marie. Happy days!
