WORLD CHAMPIONS TRAIN AT GLENMORE
The Scottish Institute of Sport arranged for the Scottish Curling Teams to come at train at Glenmore Lodge this weekend. This is one of the few occasions in the year that the whole team can get together. As well as a great deal of training they had plenty of time to compare notes and enjoy the being in the Cairngorms.
There were five teams attending. First, the 2006 World Champions skippered by Dave Murdoch. The Martin team and yes that is the Rhona Martin. She lead the team to Olympic Gold in 2002. The Wood and Gray team and last but not least the Futures Team. This is the team that is training our future Olympic potentials.
They worked hard and played hard .Glenmore Lodge would like to wish the team all the success they deserve in the European and Continental Championships later this year. Scotland has good cause to be proud!

sportscotland Worker Seeks Himalayan Record
The 62-year-old Co-ordinator of the sportscotland Avalanche Information Service, Blyth Wright, is off to Tibet to attempt Cho Oyu, 8,201 metres, the sixth highest mountain in the world. He believes that, if successful, it will make him the oldest UK-born person to climb an 8,000-metre peak. He says, "It may not seem to be a great goal to be the oldest to achieve something: youngest would definitely be better. However, that's no longer open to me, so from where I'm standing, oldest looks good."
Two years ago Blyth climbed 6,856 metre high Ama Dablam, the "Terrible Tooth of the Himalayas". He regards the current challenge as, "Technically easier, but physically much more demanding".
He is off to Nepal, then Tibet on 25th. August. Blyth will be using Smartwool socks and thermals on the trip and although time is short, he says other assistance would be, "Most welcome!"

Dear Blyth,
Re. Cho Oyo
We met back in February while I was attending a winter climbing course at Glenmore Lodge.
I'm currently creating a Homoeopathic First Aid Kit for Mountaineers, to go into production within one year. Prototype available. Could we talk?

AVIEMORE CLIMBING WALL NOW OPEN!
Monday, August 07, 2006

EXTREME DREAM is the name of the new climbing wall in Aviemore. It was opened on Saturday 5th of August. Hundreds of people came both young and old to see what will hopefully become the indoor gym for all the climbers in the valley.
There are climbs to suit all levels and a hot tob to chill out in once the work is done.
Good luck to Scott Laura and Steve from Glenmore Lodge. You have done a great job!
