Volunteers Week at Glenmore Lodge with Grangers
Tuesday, July 07, 2009

This week we have nearly 40 volunteers attending our training courses for qualifications to lead others. FANTASTIC!
Glenmore Lodge and Grangers are now in our second year of The Volunteers Programme. We are very proud to be associated with the training of instructors, leaders and coaches in the volunteer sector. They are a fundamental part of the outdoor adventure education world. They are in a position to inspire adventure in others.
Last year we managed to support over 20 training or assessment places for volunteers. This year we have been able to support nearly 40 volunteers. We dedicated a week to volunteers to come and receive training for outdoor qualifications at Glenmore Lodge. This is so that organisations like the Scouts, Guides, Duke of Edinburgh and the Boys Brigade could get a step closer to getting the qualifications they need to be able to take youngsters out and introduce them to the great outdoors.
This would not have been possible without the support of Grangers. As a company they believe they have a responsibility above and beyond the product. This is why they have set up a Community Trust Programme to sustain and support responsible outdoor enterprises like Glenmore Lodge. ( http://www.grangers.co.uk/)
For information on how to eligible to benefit from the Volunteers Programme Fund for 2010, visit the Glenmore Lodge website from September 2010.
Later today I will be interviewing some of the participants and asking them why they volunteer if the qualifications are a help of hindrance to them being effective........watch this space.
