Mountaineering Council of Scotland

The MC of S launch a series of training events in the autumn to promote mountain safety.

As part of the Mountaineering Council of Scotland’s Mountain Safety initiatives, a series of training events have been organised.

Basic navigation training - map and compass: Edinburgh 12th13th & Glasgow 19th/20th Sept

GPS training Glenmore Lodge 3rd/4th Oct

Basic First Aid (2 day course) Glen Feshie 24th/25th Oct

Navigation/GPS courses cost £25 and are open to all, the first aid course is only available to MC of S members and costs £85.

For the winter season -The MC of S is planning a new expanded winter programme including winter skills courses (based in the Cairngorms) and avalanche training (Cairngorms and Aonach Mor). The popular Winter Lecture Series will continue at the Clacaig and expand to include two extra venues this winter, the Mountain Cafe in Aviemore and another venue in Fort William. Details to be announced in the autumn.j
