Equal Adventure Festival Success!
Sunday, July 05, 2009

This month Glenmore Lodge hosted the "Equal Adventure Festival". The event provided an opportunity for able and non able bodied people to participate together in fun and challenging activities in the form of an Adventure Race.
It was great to see so many inspirational people. Some in wheelchairs some with artificial limbs all doing challenges that really stretched them physically and they loved every minute. The able bodied members were not there to just help, they were there as the competitors so were equally challenged. It was a great example of why sport is there for everybody. It brings fun, challenge and friendship in one package.
We would like to congratulate Suresh Paul and his team at Equal Adventure for creating and delivering such a great event and the team at Glenmore Lodge were really pleased to be supporting it. Liz our Event Manager said, ‘It was inspirational watching the enthusiasm and perseverance. I loved being part of this weekend. The participants were fantastic’
The aim of the festival was to raise money for two international charities - "500 miles" and "Motivation". Motivation is an international disability and development charity working in low-income countries to enhance the quality of life of people with mobility disabilities, and 500 miles works to support amputees and other disabled people in Malawi and Zambia.
The sun was out all weekend and it was clear to see that everyone had a fantastic time. We look forward to welcoming the team at equal adventure back next year. The date has already been set for Aug 27th -29th 2010. We are proud to be supporting the event again and hope there are many more to come.
