Lower Spey Landlip - serious warning

Thursday, May 01, 2008

Lower Spey LandslipA significant landslip has occurred on the banks of the Spey. Earth continues to fall down the 40 metres high bank and into the river. The danger to those on the water is now deemed to be considerable, and as such, the landowners - The Crown Estate, advise that access on the water is not taken up to and immediately beyond the slip. The slip (NJ340574) is situated 2km upstream from the A96 road bridge, between Ordiequish and Burnside of Dipple Farm at the 'Intake Pool'. This is a major threat. The SCA is liaising with the Crown Estate over this issue & will reassess this advice next week.
